Hands sketching a page layout on paper, the planning stage of how to build a company profile website

How to build a company profile website for a small or mid-sized business is not really complicated: gather the content first, think about the design second. There are seven steps, from preparing material to getting listed on Google. Through a vendor, five core pages usually take two to four weeks and start around Rp1.5 million including first-year domain and hosting. Doing it yourself, budget roughly Rp1โ€“2 million a year plus several weekends.

One thing nobody mentions: company profile projects almost never run late for technical reasons. They run late because the About Us copy still has not been written in week three.

Before You Start, Answer This One Question

Who is going to open this website, and what do you want them to do next?

For a plastic-packaging factory in Sidoarjo, that is usually a purchasing officer at another company. They want proof the factory is real: an address, photographs of the machines, production capacity, legal documents. For a dental clinic in Surabaya, it is a patient looking for opening hours and a WhatsApp number, often while standing in the car park. Both are called a company profile, but the content and the page order differ completely. Write your answer in one sentence, then use that sentence to judge every decision that follows.

How to Build a Company Profile Website in 7 Steps

1. Collect the content in one folder

Before discussing colours or templates, gather this:

  • A short company profile, two or three paragraphs: founded when, does what, for whom.
  • The list of products or services, each with one sentence of explanation.
  • The full address and a Google Maps pin that is actually correct.
  • A WhatsApp number that somebody genuinely answers during working hours.
  • A high-resolution logo, ideally the original file from whoever designed it.
  • Ten to twenty real photographs: the office, the warehouse, the team, work in progress, finished projects.

Real photographs are far more convincing than stock images of people shaking hands. Any phone from the last three years is good enough, as long as the shot is taken in daylight and held straight.

2. Register the domain in the company name

The domain is your address โ€” companyname.co.id, for instance. A .co.id costs about Rp250โ€“350 thousand a year and requires company documents such as an NIB. A .com is about Rp180โ€“250 thousand and can be registered immediately. Whoever ends up building the site, make sure the domain is registered using a company email and that you hold the password yourself. This is the one step we think should never be handed over completely.

3. Pick a build route

There are three realistic routes. The first uses a website builder โ€” an online service where you assemble pages by clicking and dragging, with no code.

Three routes to a company profile website

RouteRough costTimeSuits
Do it yourself with a website builderRp1โ€“2M a year, payable for as long as the site is live2โ€“6 weekendsSole traders whose content rarely changes
Ready-made package from a vendorRp1.5โ€“4.5M once, then domain and hosting renewals2โ€“4 weeksMost SMEs, clinics, contractors, shops
Custom designFrom Rp7.5M4โ€“8 weeksCompanies with several product lines, two languages, or forms wired into other systems

East Java market ranges for 2026, 3โ€“8 pages. Excludes copywriting and a professional photo session.

Doing it yourself looks cheapest. But it is paid for with your time, and the subscription never stops. If you do not enjoy this kind of work, the package route is usually cheaper over two years. What each tier contains is itemised on our website packages page, including what is and is not included.

4. Build the five core pages

Almost every company profile is fine with five pages: Home, About Us, Products or Services, Portfolio or Clients, and Contact. A blog or a careers page can follow once the site is running.

The home page has to answer three things within one phone screen. Who you are, what you do, and how to get in touch.

5. Write for customers, not for your boss

"We are committed to delivering the best service" sells nothing, because every company writes it. Replace it with facts: "Serving 40 contractors across Sidoarjo and Pasuruan since 2014", or "Delivery to Surabaya within one day". One honest number is more credible than a paragraph of promises.

The 10-second test
Ask somebody outside the office โ€” a relative, a long-standing customer โ€” to read the home page for 10 seconds. Then ask them: what does this company sell? If the answer is wrong, the problem is the copy, not the design.

6. Check it on a phone before launch

Most visitors will open your site on a phone. Open every page on your own phone and on a longer-serving employeeโ€™s phone. Tap the WhatsApp button and confirm the number is right. Open the map. Submit the contact form, then check the message actually arrived. It sounds trivial, but a WhatsApp button with one wrong digit is among the most common things we find when auditing company websites.

7. Register it with Google

A new site does not appear in search automatically. Register it with Google Search Console, the free service for telling Google your site exists. Then create or claim a Google Business Profile with exactly the same address. It usually takes a few days to two weeks before your company name shows up when somebody searches for it.

Two Things People Forget

First, the year-two cost. Domain and hosting for a simple company site generally run Rp800 thousand to Rp2.5 million a year. Ask for that number up front.

Second, who updates the content. A site last touched three years ago, with an old phone number and a team photo where half the people have resigned, actively makes buyers hesitate. Give one person in the office the job of checking the site monthly โ€” fifteen minutes is enough.

In our experience, most SMEs in Sidoarjo and Surabaya do not need custom design in year one. A tidy five-page site that loads fast and tells the truth already does the main job: looking real when a prospect searches for you. And standard packages do have limits. A distributor with hundreds of technically specified products, or one needing the catalogue wired to warehouse stock, will feel boxed in by month six. In those cases building it properly from the start is cheaper than tearing it down later.

So if your content folder is half full and you want to know which route fits, book a free consultation through our Sidoarjo website service page โ€” bring whatever material you already have, however rough.

Can you build a company profile website for free?+
You can, using a free address from a website builder. For a company we would not recommend it: that kind of address looks temporary to a B2B buyer, and you do not really own it. Your own domain is only about Rp180โ€“350 thousand a year, so the saving is not worth it.
How many pages is ideal for a company profile?+
Five pages covers most businesses. Add pages only when there is content customers are actually looking for โ€” for example one page per brand for a distributor carrying several brands.
Does a company profile website need a blog?+
Not at the start. A blog is useful if somebody can commit to writing at least twice a month. A blog whose last article is two years old is better hidden for now.

If your customers are mostly in Surabaya rather than Sidoarjo, the same free session is available through our Surabaya website service page. Same process, same notes to take home.
