Web Development Services in Indonesia: How to Choose the Right Local Vendor

Choosing web development services in Indonesia safely starts with three checks: open the websites the vendor has actually built, make sure the domain is registered in your business name, and get an itemised written quote before paying the down payment, which Indonesian vendors call the DP. On price, a company profile website for a small business in Sidoarjo usually runs Rp2.9โ€“4.5 million. A one-page landing page can start at Rp1.5 million, while a corporate site with a blog and two languages is typically Rp7.5โ€“12 million. Expect 3โ€“6 weeks, and the most common cause of delay is material from the client side.

The rest depends on your kind of business. These are the questions owners, and foreign partners working with Indonesian firms, ask most before deciding.

Does the Vendor Need to Be Local, or Is an Out-of-Town Studio Just as Good?

Technically, a website can be built from any city. The difference only shows at two moments: gathering the material, and fixing something after the site goes live.

Picture a bag and luggage maker in Tanggulangin, Sidoarjo's leather-goods district, with 150 product models. There are no photos yet, the descriptions live in the owner's head, and wholesale prices differ for each reseller. A vendor who can spend half a day at the workshop will sort that out far faster than three weeks of back-and-forth on WhatsApp. The same goes for the Monday morning when company email suddenly stops working.

But being nearby does not guarantee good work. Some local vendors install the same template for every client. Our view: make location the second criterion. The first is still work you can open and check for yourself.

What Do Web Development Services in Indonesia Cost?

Price and build-time ranges for business websites in Sidoarjo

Website typePrice rangeBuild timeBest for
One-page landing pageRp1.5โ€“2.5 millionAbout 3 weeksPromoting a single product, or a one-person service business
Company profile, 5โ€“7 pagesRp2.9โ€“4.5 million3โ€“4 weeksSmall businesses, CVs and shops with a small catalogue
Corporate site with blog and two languagesRp7.5โ€“12 million5โ€“6 weeksFactories, distributors and firms that bid for tenders
Custom features such as online ordering or a member areaFrom Rp18 millionOver 6 weeksBusinesses that need transactions or integration with other systems

2026 market ranges, usually including the first year of domain and hosting. From year two, expect renewal costs of about Rp1โ€“2.5 million a year.

Sites under Rp1 million exist too. They are usually a ready-made template on hosting shared with hundreds of other sites, and the domain is often registered to the seller. For a business that only wants to be visible on Google, that can be enough, provided you know what you are buying. For comparison, what each of those price bands includes is itemised on our website packages page (in Indonesian).

What Should You Check Before Paying the Deposit?

A DP of 30โ€“50% up front is normal. A request for 100% before any work starts is a reason to stop and think. Before you transfer anything, check these four things:

  • Open the last three websites they built, on your own phone. If they are slow or already offline, that is your answer.
  • Ask whose name the domain is registered under. The right answer is your business or its owner, with login access that you hold.
  • Get it in writing: number of pages, how many revision rounds, who writes the text, and what is not included.
  • Ask about year-two costs. Plenty of owners are caught out when the renewal bill lands far above what they expected.
Domain registered to the vendor
A case we see fairly often: a distributor in Sidoarjo wants to change vendors after three years, then discovers its .com domain is registered to the old vendor. Moving it needs the registered owner's cooperation, and if that vendor is hard to reach the process can drag on for weeks. Company email is disrupted the whole time.

Who Prepares the Text and Photos?

Website projects rarely run late because of the developer. More often, the company profile text has not been written and the product photos are still scattered across staff phones.

Ask early whether the vendor writes the copy or only places the material you supply. Both are normal, as long as the quote says which. Copywriting is usually priced separately, at around Rp500,000 to Rp1.5 million for a 5โ€“7 page site.

To keep the project from stalling, have these ready before the first meeting:

  1. One paragraph on the history and strengths of the business, written plainly.
  2. A list of products or services, with prices if you want them shown.
  3. 10โ€“20 real photos of the premises, the team and the products. Well-lit phone photos are fine.
  4. Full address, Google Maps pin, WhatsApp number, and your NIB business registration number if you already have one.

Do You Need to Edit the Content Yourself?

If you change prices often, add products or publish articles, ask for a site with a CMS โ€” an admin page for changing text and photos without a developer.

For a company profile whose content rarely changes, the CMS often goes unused. A year later nobody remembers the password, and an admin page that never gets updated becomes a security gap. In that situation it makes more sense to have the vendor make changes, at a per-change rate agreed at the start.

There is a limit, too. A good-looking website does not bring buyers by itself. Without a filled-in Google Business Profile, the web address on your business cards and the occasional content post, a company profile site mostly serves as proof that your business is real. That still matters, especially for tenders or for winning over a new distributor. Just set expectations to match.

If you want a website plan checked before any money changes hands, bring a list of the pages you have in mind to a free consultation through the Sidoarjo website service page. For businesses based in Surabaya, go through the Surabaya website service page instead. Both pages are in Indonesian, and thirty minutes is usually enough to tell which package you actually need.

Can a website be finished in a week?+
For a one-page landing page, yes, if all the material is ready. A company profile with a few rounds of design revision realistically takes 3โ€“4 weeks. A vendor promising three days is almost certainly using a template with little customisation.
Does the price include SEO so the site shows up on Google?+
What is usually included is basic SEO only: page titles and descriptions, speed, and submission to Google Search Console. Reaching page one for a competitive keyword takes regular content over many months, and that is separate work.
Does the business need to be a CV or PT before getting a website?+
Not for a .com or .id domain. A .co.id domain does ask for business documents such as an NIB, which can be obtained free through the government OSS portal, including for sole proprietors. Many small businesses start with .com and add .co.id once their paperwork is complete.
